“MASTERING LEADERSHIP THE MOUSETRAP WAY”

We have talked about the SPE Heartbeats during the afternoon session of the Work Plan & Awards Presentation 2017 held on 7 Dec 2017. As part of this initiative, we are all given the book “Mastering Leadership The Mousetrap Way” by Manoj Vasudevan during the event.

CHAPTER 1: WHOSE PROBLEM IS IT ANYWAY. [OWNERSHIP]
From the Mousetrap Story, we know that when there is a problem (mousetrap), who owns the problem. In this Chapter 1, you read about (1) Cycle of Blame, Shame, and Counterclaims; (2) The Broken Chair Metaphor; (3) Initiative Without Directive. We learn about not waiting for leaders to lead by example. Let’s take ownership and encourage others to do the same.

CHAPTER 2: COMPETENCE IS IMPORTANT. CONFIDENCE IS PARAMOUNT.[CONFIDENCE]
From the Mousetrap Story, we know that when the mouse panicked upon seeing the mousetrap, What would be different if he did not panic and what could he have done differently? In this Chapter 2, you read about (1) Competence Irony; Competence is important but Confidence is paramount. (2) Seven Qualities that increase with Confidence; (3) Confidence (I can do this thing) Vs Arrogance (I can do everything); (4) Confidence Kick-Start Script; (5) The ‘Cake’ Metaphor and a Clarion Call for Leaders.
We learn about how Competence is important but Confidence is Paramount. Let’s start to be Bold, Be Confident and Be Decisive.
